smaitthariq.sch.id-In today’s digital era, creativity is no longer just a hobby it is a powerful communication tool for driving change. The Grade 10 students of SMAIT Thariq Bin Ziyad have recently proven this through an in-depth animation project titled ‘Sea Snap.’
Far more than just a school assignment, this project is a critical response to a pressing environmental issue: plastic pollution, which increasingly threatens the preservation of our oceans.
Why Are Our Oceans Under Threat?
We often see the ocean as a vast, boundless blue. Yet, beneath its waves, thousands of tons of plastic threaten the underwater ecosystem. Through Sea Snap, students highlight two major impacts that are often overlooked:
- Ecosystem Destruction: How plastic waste not only contaminates the water but also kills marine life from within.
- The Fate of Our Fishermen: The decline in fish populations due to waste has a direct impact on the economic welfare of fishermen and coastal communities who depend on the sea for their livelihoods.
Collaboration and Mentorship: The Keys to Project Success
The success of the Sea Snap project is inseparable from a well-matured Project-Based Learning process. Under the guidance and mentorship of Mrs. Yuli Widiastuti, S.Pd., Mrs. Angelina Dwi P., S.Pd., and Mrs. Lidawati, S.T., the Grade 10 students were challenged to merge technical animation skills with social awareness.
The role of the mentors in this project was crucial in ensuring that the environmental message remained accurate while being packaged in visuals that are engaging for young audiences. This project proves that with the right direction, technology in the hands of students can become a highly effective educational medium.
Through Sea Snap, students learned that every click and every frame they created holds the power to educate the public on becoming more mindful about plastic consumption.”
Support Student Work: Understand the Problem, Take Action!
We invite parents and colleagues to witness the hard work of these Grade 10 students. Let us support their positive creativity while learning more about the importance of preserving our oceans for the sake of future generations.
